A “Knighthood” for Poet McGonagall

The India mail has brought to the office of the Weekly Scotsman a letter from the “Court of King Theebaw, Andaman Islands,” signed by “C. Macdonald, K.O.B.E.B., Poet-Laureate of Burmah,” and with the seals of the King and several High Court officials appended, greeting Poet McGonagall, and intimating that His Majesty had lately appointed the Poet of the Silvery Tay a “Grand Knight of the Holy Order of the White Elephant of Burmah.” The silver decoration and ribbon of the Order are enclosed, and are very beautiful. The letter has been forwarded to Poet McGonagall, without whose permission it cannot be published.
